Madeline is a series of books written and illustrated by Ludwig Bemelmans, and later by his grandson John Bemelmans Marciano.

The series follows the life and adventures of Madeline Fogg, a young girl attending a boarding school in Paris with eleven other girls, under the care of their teacher, Miss Clavel. The first book was published in 1939, and proved to be a success, so Bemelmans wrote many sequels in the 1940s and 1950s. The series continued, written by Bemelmans' grandson John Bemelmans Marciano. In the first book, Madeline's "papa" sends her a dolls' house when she is recovering from an appendectomy, and the girls all go to visit their parents in the Christmas book. As of 1998, the series had sold over 15 million copies worldwide.
